WORK LOCATION
This position is flexible to be located in Atlanta, GA (Forest Park) or Birmingham, AL (The Energy Center), however candidates living outside of the area may be considered with the expectation that they could successfully telework and would be willing to travel to work and/or field location on a routine (to be determined) and as-needed basis.
Flexible work environment with hybrid (both in-office and telecommute) work options available.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting the administration, maintenance and ongoing development of Southern Company’s custom-built Transmission cost and resource estimating and work management tool (TEAMS – Transmission Estimating and Management System). This role is a point of contact for developmental needs and coordination of TEAMS; which includes support of customers in Transmission Design, Supply Chain, Accounting, Construction, Maintenance, and Project Management for all Operating Companies. Successful TEAMS support requires partnering with the Southern Company Technology Organization, as well as the individual Operating Companies (GPC, APC, MPC). Activities for this role will include application development, data acquisition and maintenance, QA/QC of TEAMS data and application changes, and end-user training and support.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Along with routine work activities including user support, group meetings, normal TEAMS maintenance releases, etc.; provide leadership and support related to the following activities and technical support functions:
Administration of TEAMS user roles
Support TEAMS technical training activities
Document work processes to facilitate knowledge transfer
TEAMS native and TEAMS interface testing activities
Data query requests (i.e. audits, accounting, compliance reporting, etc.)
Material Library maintenance
Data maintenance, including Facilities name changes, Data repairs, Basic Units and assemblies, Key marks and Maximo numbers, material and budget data, etc.
Monitor and support Work Order related activities
Create necessary bug nets for future enhancements in TEAMS
Monthly closeout processes for all Operating Companies
Support of Enterprise Foundations effort
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems preferred but not required.
Experience working in Electrical Utility or Energy field is a plus.
Experience in TEAMS (Transmission Estimating and Management System) application is a plus
Experience with programming languages is preferred (e.g. C#, Visual Basic/VBA, Perl, PowerShell, etc.).
Experience in Frameworks/Platforms .NET Core/.NET Framework, Web API is a plus
Data management skills with experience in writing or using SQL queries
Experience with relational databases is preferred (e.g., Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server, MS Access)
Experience writing in Tableau, BI Publisher is a plus
Previous experience providing front line end user support to multiple user groups is a plus
Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting applications is a plus
Experience providing information technology support preferred
Experience providing customer support preferred
Strong computer skills in standard software packages such as Microsoft Office required
Proven high degree of accuracy and quality work results required
