MUSH (Municipality, Universities, Schools, and Hospitals) Project Developer Market Representative
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for facilitating, developing, negotiating and selling energy conservation and energy infrastructure projects in highly competitive markets. These markets are specifically identified as the Municipality, Universities, Schools, and Hospital markets or MUSH markets for both in territory sales as well as outside of the franchise territory. This position will work in conjunction with MPC’s managed accounts sales, regional area managers, and community relationship mangers at MPC who workday in and day out with this market segment. This position will carry the project from a sales, procedural and technical standpoint through to contract. This position will cultivate strong relationships with key decision makers within the customer MUSH market. The position will leverage existing MPC relationships in the market to develop projects through inception, project development, then maintain the relationship contacts through construction, and commissioning. This role facilitates audits in the PFA and the IGA phases and selects and works with our engineering and construction allies closely. This role carries the responsibility of leading the project scope development, financial evaluations, financial solutions, technical specifications, customer facility walkthroughs, preliminary and investment grade audits, along with final negotiations on customer contracts. Key to this role is overseeing the guaranteed savings and performance contracts as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
PE License preferred
CEM license preferred
Sales and engineering experience in the energy conservation field, related mechanical equipment, and general building mechanical systems including HVAC or central chiller and boiler plant(s) – specifically developing and selling “paid for out of savings” energy projects in the MUSH market required.
Experience in providing and implementing engineering energy conservation solutions in the areas of HVAC, controls, lighting, water conservation, electrical infrastructure, building envelop improvements, and other technology- based applications for energy efficiency desired
ESCO (Energy Service Company) experience is a plus
Demonstrated experience in project management and adherence to construction timelines, critical path management, and budget management
Working knowledge of project financing structures in public and institutional markets, as well as experience in financial analysis of technology savings is a plus
Working knowledge of statutory restrictions and requirements for public energy services projects within the State of MS required. Additional experience in other states is a plus
Extensive experience in management of post construction performance and O&M projects related to energy services projects preferred
Demonstrated sales skills in areas of serving the customer, building positive customer relationships as demonstrated with repeat sales, high customer satisfaction with institutional, municipal, educational type customer base
Demonstrated skills in drafting, writing, assembling, and responding to State required RFQ’s and RFPs for energy conservation projects. Skills include verbal presentations at various levels of customer management
Demonstrate record of successful sales in highly competitive markets in the energy savings performance contracting arena
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of and demonstrated success in the execution of energy conservation projects (includes ability to understand technology, Energy Conservation Measure, “ECM,” opportunities, financial evaluation, customer financials, key contract terms, payment terms, performance period, etc.)
Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to multi-task
Good written, verbal, and listening communication skills including interface with internal and external customers, contractors and multiple levels of management
Demonstrated ability to identify customer issues, identify solutions, and negotiate positive outcomes in a highly profession manner between all on energy related projects
Previous experience with performance saving guarantees for energy conservation projects is a plus
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with a sales team, development performance contracts (energy efficiency/energy conservation) primarily to Municipal, Universities, Schools (k-12), and Hospitals in behalf of Mississippi Power – referred to as MUSH market
Identify and pursue energy efficiency projects, develop and negotiate customer contracts
Draft, develop, finance, and price projects based on bids from design professionals, contractors, or other external quotes
Act as the primary interface between customer and vendor after the sales process during implementation of energy projects
Manage all aspect of energy project development and customer contract negotiations
Comply with all MPC and ES processes and procedures (including participating in risk review process)
Ensure high quality of work and customer satisfaction with customer – provide feedback to MPC and vendor
